Grandeur ‘Union Fest 2026’ on August 15, 2026
A
Sacred Birthday at the Feet of the Lord
‘Second
Anniversary’ of Hanuman Statue in Sugar Land
Vanam
Jwala Narasimha Rao (Houston)
According
to the Hindu Lunar calendar, Saturday, August 15, 2026, being Shravan Suddha
Chavithi, is my Birthday. Accompanied by my wife, my daughter Kinnera, and my
son-in-law Kishan, I joined hundreds of devotees gathered to celebrate the
second anniversary of a true spiritual epicenter: the ‘Majestic Statue of Union,’
at the premises of ‘The Sri Ashta Lakshmi Temple’ in Sugar Land. Thanks to the affectionate
arrangements made by Manjula Chokkarapu and her husband Krishna, both staunch
devotees of the Ashta Lakshmi Temple, and best friends Kinnera and Kishan, I
was blessed with the rare and profound privilege of offering Paadabhishekam.
Together,
we climbed the stairs to reach the sacred feet of the colossal 90-foot-tall,
90-ton monument of Lord Hanuman. Standing there, looking out as dazzling
celebratory fireworks illuminated the Texas sky, I felt an overwhelming sense
of peace and transcendence. Unveiled in August 2024, this majestic Pancha Loha
(five-metal alloy) masterpiece is the tallest Hanuman statue in North America. Envisioned
by Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, the monument is purposefully named the ‘Statue of
Union’ to honor Lord Hanuman's pivotal role in reuniting Lord Rama with Goddess
Sita.
Standing
at His feet felt like a divine validation of my current ‘Life’s Work.’ Beginning
with first volume, ‘Simplified and Faithful Rendering of the Adi Kavya Valmiki
Ramayana (Bala, Ayodhya Kandas): The Greatest Epic,’ written primarily for the
benefit of my grandchildren, who are born and raised in the USA but desire to
know the Ramayana in intimate detail, I am currently in the final stages of
writing and translating Sundara Kanda into English. As I look at this
magnificent Statue of Union, I am reminded of how beautifully Maharshi Valmiki and
Andhra Valmiki Vasudasa Swamy introduces Lord Hanuman, and how his character
perfectly justifies the statue's name.
What
makes Hanuman truly magnificent, and what this Sugar Land monument perfectly
captures, is his absolute surrender. Maharshi Valmiki and Andhra Valmiki establish
Hanumaan as the ultimate master of language, whose refined speech serves as a
masterclass in building bridges. From his very first diplomatic encounter with
Sri Rama in Kishkindha Kanda to comforting a deeply traumatized Sita Devi in
the Ashoka Grove, his words are precise, respectful, and culturally astute.
Even when standing bound in the hostile court of Ravana, his communication
remains grounded in statecraft, dignity, and Dharma.
Trapped
inside the pitch-black, suffocating labyrinth of the Rikshabila cave, the
search party faced an existential crisis of starvation and absolute
disorientation. Hanumaan’s exceptional crisis management skills came to the
forefront as he kept the panicked Vanaras calm and focused. Recognizing the
divine aura of the ascetic woman Swayamprabha, he respectfully negotiated their
passage. Through his diplomatic handling of the situation, she used her mystic
powers to safely transport the entire army to the southern shore.
When
the southern search facing strict deadlines and the terrifying prospect of
Sugriva’s wrath, mutiny brewed among the ranks. Angada, overwhelmed by despair,
contemplated self-immolation or fracturing the kingdom by staying behind.
Hanumaan expertly deployed the political strategy of Sama, Dana, Bheda, Danda: specifically
using Bheda (dissension) to gently remind the Vanaras of their shared loyalty
to Kishkindha. By neutralizing division through strategic negotiation, he kept
the army cohesive, healed a brewing civil rift, and preserved the collective
strength necessary for their ultimate mission.
Facing
the vast, roaring southern ocean, the mighty Vanara warriors stood frozen in
deep despair and self-doubt. Prompted by the wise words of Jambavan, Hanumaan
steps into the vacuum of initiative, rediscovering his dormant, colossal
strength. He does not demand that others follow his dangerous path; instead, he
shoulders the entire geopolitical weight of the mission single-handedly. By
translating an impossible crisis into a decisive leap of faith, his proactive
leadership unifies the army’s fragmented morale.
Hanumaan
exhibits masterly persuasion skills always. Fr instance: By presenting Rama's
Signet Ring to Sita in Ashoka Garden, and returning to Rama with her precious
Chudamani (Crest Jewel), he bridges two souls separated by a vast ocean of
despair. He heals their agonizing grief, giving unstoppable momentum to the
global restoration of Dharma. When he boldly offers to carry her across the
ocean on his back to instantly end her suffering, he presents a compelling
solution. Though Sita chooses to wait for Rama to preserve his honor,
Hanumaan’s persuasive dialogue bridges her isolation with absolute certainty of
rescue, uniting her spirit with Rama.
Hanumaan’s
actions in Lanka are a masterclass in asymmetric warfare and tactical
precision, serving as a controlled warning rather than blind chaos. By
systematically dismantling the Ashoka Grove and decimating eighty thousand
Kinkaras, army generals, and Ravana's son Aksha Kumara, he target-locked the
enemy’s vanguard. Even when captured by the Brahmastra, his subsequent torching
of the citadel was a calculated surgical strike. He shattered Lanka's illusion
of absolute invincibility, mapped their psychological defenses, and gathered
vital intelligence, perfectly preparing the path for the ultimate military
march of Dharma.
Hanuman’s
character exemplifies peak personal growth, beautifully balancing unparalleled
power with profound psychological restraint and emotional intelligence. Upon
his triumphant return from Lanka, the way he narrates his perilous journey to
Jambavan and the Vanara army showcases a fully evolved personality. He
deliberately shifts the spotlight away from his own staggering physical
achievements, choosing instead to frame the success as a tapestry of collective
energy and divine grace. This deliberate sublimation of the ego is the hallmark
of true personality development, transforming a singular hero into a unifying
force.
Beyond
his worldly talents, Hanumaan represents the ultimate spiritual bridge, making
him uniquely qualified to anchor the Statue of Union. He serves as the vital
link between the human devotee and the Supreme Divine, seamlessly connecting
the terrestrial realm of the Vanaras with the cosmic mission of the avatar. His
absolute surrender (Sharanagati) to Sri Rama allows him to transcend the
boundaries of space, fear, and ego. By dissolving his individual identity into
the divine will, Hanumaan becomes a living conduit of peace, illustrating that
true, lasting unity is a state of spiritual transcendence.
Hanuman
thus, is the ‘Architect of Alignment with Eight Facets of the Great Unifier’: Before
diving into the epic narratives of the Ramayana, it is awe-inspiring to see how
his life’s work serves as a comprehensive blueprint for modern human
excellence. When we look at the structural virtues of the Lord, we see an
unbroken chain of mastery where Communication Skills laid the foundation for
flawless diplomacy, and his sharp Negotiation Skills actively prevented
internal division. This was fueled by a lifelong commitment to Personality
Development that kept his immense ego entirely surrendered.
The
precise Persuasion Skills needed to revive absolute hope in the hopeless is his
greatness. When the mission demanded a champion, his unwavering Leadership
Skills broke through collective paralysis, while his swift Crisis Management
turned dead ends into open pathways. When diplomacy failed, his devastating
Surgical Strike Skills systematically dismantled the enemy's psychological
advantage, all culminating in a state of pure Spiritual Transcendence that
dissolved the self into the service of Dharma. It is this complete, eight-fold
mastery that seamlessly bridges the human with the divine, justifies why his
Sugar Land monument forever remain as the Statue of Union
Participating
in 'Union Fest 2026' on my birthday was more than just a celebration; it was a
deeply personal blessing. To look up at the tallest Hanuman statue in North
America, while actively putting his timeless exploits into English text for my
grandchildren, felt like a complete spiritual circle. The Statue of Union
stands not merely as a Texas landmark, but as a living reminder that when
strength is guided by wisdom and dedicated entirely to Dharma, nothing in this
world remains impossible.
