It’s ridiculous to argue, as few have been doing in the recent past, that the Telangana Government has not provided enough of jobs. The last six and half years in the newly born Telangana State the employment potential that has been created is of the order of a whooping over 20 lakhs! These include jobs in the Government departments, Public Sector Undertakings, Governmental organizations like Universities as well as huge employment opportunities created in Information Technology and Industrial Units established as part of TS-I Pass. The KCR Government at the same time is equally a great employee friendly!         

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who spearheaded the separate hood movement with job opportunities as Tagline, from the day one he assumed charge, as CM defined, designed and delivered his vision and action plan to provide job opportunities. Today Telangana is ahead of all the states in providing job opportunities to its unemployed youth through varied sources going beyond the Government jobs.   

Unfortunately, many have a wrong notion that jobs means only jobs in the government. Undoubtedly jobs and job opportunities provided by the Telangana Public Service Commission, in Public Sector Undertakings like the RTC, Singareni, Police, Medical and Health, Universities, several Corporations, Societies, Industries, IT sector, all would also fall under this category. Hence it is imperative to note that employment generated in the government departments as well as other than the government departments directly or indirectly and the job creation thus happened should be treated as the appointments.

Though the KCR government is successful in creating jobs in the government, quasi government, private, private and public sectors, a false campaign is unleashed on the actual data on the job creation and employment generation that the government actually did. Hence there is a need to clarify this and set the records straight. Necessity has also arisen to state the policy decisions taken by the government and the measures that it is taking as on date.

The newly formed Telangana State in the past six and half years has employed more than 1.25 Lakh jobs in the government, State-owned public Sector undertakings, non- government sector, either through TSPSC or directly in departments like the Electricity, in Singareni collieries, Police department, Panchayat Raj (Secretaries), teachers in the Residential Schools, in the universities, Corporations and Societies and in Medical and Health etc.

A whopping 5.82 Lakhs jobs were given in the IT sector thanks to the proper initiatives and polices taken by the Telangana State government. Moreover, with the innovative TS-I Pass policy of the government, more than 14,000 industries came up in the State. In these industries direct and indirect employment is to the tune of 14.96 Lakh. If we put all these together, about 21.50 Lakh unemployed in the state have been gainfully employed or in the process of being employed. Telangana State thus became a unique state, which created employment to such an extent in the government and private sectors in the country. This is a record of sorts!


In the same process, with the instructions from the CM, the official machinery is gearing up to recruit 50,000 more in the government. It is no exaggeration that the Telangana state is only the state in the country which created largescale employment in all the sectors, gave job security to the employees already working in the State and is generating employment on a regular basis.

The state government is according high priority to eradicate unemployment in the state and to fill up all the vacancies in the government departments. The government has exclusively set up Telangana State Public Service Commission. The government has appointed academic scholar and an able administrator Prof Ghanta Chakrapani as the first TSPSC Chairman and later appointed Sri D Krishna Reddy as the temporary Chairman. The TSPSC gave notification to recruit 36665 posts by the end of 2020.  As on date, 31072 posts were filled up. Filling up of other vacancies are at different stages of recruitment. Similarly, 3643 Residential School teachers’ posts were filled up.

The salaries of Special Officers working in Kastur Ba Girls schools, CRTs have been increased. The government issued orders to recruit 840 teaching and 588 non-teaching employees. The government gave permission to recruit 377 employees in the urban residential schools at all the district headquarters in all the 33 districts. Of this, 174 teaching and 203 non-teaching employees will be appointed.

10,477 dependent jobs for those families working in the Singareni Collieries Company and 3148 external recruitees in total 13625 jobs were created. Above all this, regular Bonus is paid and increments are given. The government has taken up several programs for the job security in the company. The government has decided to regularize 758 teachers working as contract teachers in the residential schools for the past nine years and 18 teachers working on Adhoc basis. It was also decided to upgrade 2488 Language Pandits, 1047 PETs as the School Assistants. In the electricity department, it was decided to recruit 11,869 employees directly (in Genco, Transco). Of this, 9289 (Genco, Transco) were recruited and 2552 jobs in Transco were being considered.

As far as employee’s security is concerned, the government has hiked the salaries of GHMC Sanitary workers, drivers. At the time of formation of the State, municipal workers salary was hiked. Anganwadi salaries were hiked twice by the state government. The CM announced that salaries would be hiked for the helper representatives.

For the government employees, who played a key role in the separate state hood movement, the government has announced the PRC. Fitment to the tune of 43 percent of the basic salary was given. The state government has also given a special increment to them for making the then Sakala Janula Samme a grand success.

Salaries of the Indira Kranti Scheme (IKS) employees and staff, Salaries of those working in SERP and national employment guarantee schemes were also increased. The state government has increased the salaried of 1703 employees working with 108 Ambulance service.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, as a new year’s gift, has decided to increase the salaries of all the government employees, increase the age of superannuation and to recruit employees in all the government departments. The CM announced that the salary hike would benefit government employees, Grant-in Aid employees, work charged employees, daily wages employees, fulltime contingent employees, part time Contingent employees, Home Guards, Anganwadi workers, Contract employees, Out-sourcing employees, Asha workers, Vidya Volunteers, SERP employees, people receiving the honorariums, pensioners. All category of employees put together would be 9,36,976 and the salary hike would be extended for all these employees, the CM said. All this means that the job potential created in TS has no parallel in the country.
