I, with my wife, son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren visited yesterday late in the evening, as part of our visit to USS, the colossal 90-foot-tall 90-ton ‘Statue of Union,’ the Monument of Lord hanuman, in the premises of ‘The Sri Ashta Lakshmi Temple near Houston, located at 10098 Synott Rd, Sugar Land, TX. We all felt an immediate sense of peace the moment the colossal Statue of Union came into view.

Standing majestically within the serene premises of the Sri Ashta Lakshmi Temple, this breathtaking bronze monument of Lord Hanuman left us completely awestruck by its sheer scale and artistry. Unveiled in August 2024, it stands as the tallest Hanuman statue in North America.

The statue has its own Significance. Named to commemorate Lord Hanuman's role in reuniting Lord Rama with Goddess Sita, symbolizing selflessness, devotion, strength, and unity. Its Posture too is unique. It is depicted in the Abhaya mudra (Palms Facing Forward), signifying protection and benevolence. The Statue was designed under the guidance of Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, with components manufactured abroad and assembled on-site.

Our grandchildren Kanak and Irah immediately pointed upward in pure wonder, their eyes wide as they tried to take in the massive figure that symbolizes devotion and strength, casting a protective aura over the entire landscape. We strolled through the beautifully manicured temple grounds as the soft late evening electric lighting looked bright, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere that enveloped our entire family.

My wife (From near and far) and daughter-in-law admired the intricate traditional carvings of the Statue, while my son explained the significance of Hanuman's hand gestures to the little ones. The gentle breeze made our casual visit and walk feel like a sacred journey of togetherness and reflection. Our visit was late evening thought that suddenly came to us, after our daughter Kinnera called from there, performing Puja on the occasion of her son Yashwin Birthday.

As night progressed, and as the statue was beautifully illuminated against the dark Texas sky, we paused to capture a few family photographs to look back on this special milestone of our trip. Combining our grand tour of the USA site with this vibrant cultural landmark gave us the perfect blend of discovery and spiritual renewal. It was a profoundly heartwarming evening that brought three generations of our family closer together, leaving us with a shared memory that we will all cherish for years to come.

From there we had been to daughter Kinnera’s house to spend time for a while, before returning my son’s house where presently we are staying. Both my son and daughter are luckily in Houston, 20-minutes travel apart.

According to authorities concerned: ‘It was envisioned by His Holiness Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, and this majestic Pancha Loha Abhaya Hanuman was named as the ‘Statue of Union’ to honor Lord Hanuman’s pivotal role in reuniting Sri Rama and Sita. More than just a landmark, it serves as a spiritual epicentre where hearts find solace, minds find peace, and souls find a path to transcendence.’

‘It stands to guide future generations toward divine blessings, radiating strength, benevolence, and hope.’ The organizers of the ‘Statue of Union’ are celebrating the ‘Second Anniversary’ on August 14-16 as ‘Union Festival 2026.’

Incidentally I am in the process of writing ‘Sundara kanda’ in English and half way through, in which the Hero is Lord Hanuman, and his Darshan within a week of my coming to USA (Houston) is a Devine Blessing.
