of
Telangana State-CM KCR

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said that, the Congress party
which filed as many as 196 cases in various forums, since the formation of the
state, with the malicious intention of obstructing Telangana development is the
“Number one villain of Telangana State”.
KCR addressed a media conference at Pragathi Bhavan on Wednesday,
the 2nd August 2017, where he compared the Congress to a devil that
had engulfed Telangana. He said that Pandit Nehru, during his tenure as PM, had
merged Telangana with Andhra, against the wishes of the people of Telangana and
the recommendations of the Fasal Ali Commission.
KCR said that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had scrapped the
Mulki Rules which would protect the jobs of the people of Telangana, and was instrumental
for firing hundreds of students who were fighting for Telangana and for
formation of a separate state.
The CM also accused the UPA government of delaying the formation
of Telangana, thus causing hundreds of people to commit suicide. “The UPA did
not create Telangana state out of love and affection for people of Telangana.
It did so out of compulsion, and to gain political mileage ahead of the 2014
elections. KCR reiterated that the Congress approved the formation of Telangana
only at the eleventh hour left with no other alternative. Out of anger and
frustration, it is now attempting to obstruct development of Telangana by creating
hurdles to every scheme and program undertaken by the government,” he said.
The CM said that members of the Congress party waited for the
government to issue orders, and within hours of the release of a GO, they would
file a PIL or a case in the High Court or the Supreme Court or in some forum or
other. “They are not leaving even tribunals like NGT to stop development of projects
in Hyderabad or construction of Bhadradri, Yadadri thermal power stations. They
don't want us to give people drinking water, water for irrigation, electricity,
flyovers, and roads. Is this a national party? They are obstructing all
development programmes to serve their selfish political interests. They fear
that they will vanish from Telangana if these programmes are successfully
implemented,” he said. The CM has
asked the Congress to “stop this nuisance and nonsense”.
KCR said that he had accused them of obstructing
the development of Telangana in 2001 when the TRS was formed and he still
stands by his statement. He said no Congress leader had played an active role
in statehood movement and after Telangana became a reality they just dreamt of
coming to power. But they were shocked after watching the results of 2014
elections. Instead of participating in the development process, they are now
creating obstacles by filing cases, he alleged.
Expressing his ire over the Congress, the Chief
Minister called them as “third rated parties” and said that he would take up a
statewide tour soon and expose the Congress misdeeds. He said disgruntled
‘Telangana Congress leaders filed 164 cases against irrigation projects and
another 32 cases on other schemes, including Mission Bhagiratha, Yadadri and
Bhadradri power projects, dependent jobs in Singareni Collieries Company
limited, regularisation of contract employees in different departments,
including Energy sector and Telangana State Public Service Commission.
During his two-hour long press conference, he
appealed to the opposition saying, “Let us not become a curse for our own state.”
KCR said the Congress leaders stooped to all-time low for narrow political
gains. He wondered why the opposition leaders approached courts against the
developmental programmes, which are aimed to transform the state into Golden
Telangana.
The Congress has been facing leadership crisis
and is looking for a ‘Bahubali’ to come to its rescue. Since it was a national
party, the Congress and its leaders should have maintained dignity. People gave
befitting lesson to Congress in all bye-elections, including Warangal Lok Sabha
seat, GHMC and Palair assembly. The opposition party’s nervousness to stall the
development would invite people’s wrath in the next elections also, he said.
Taking a broadside at Congress for the increased
drug and pub culture during its regime in the united Andhra Pradesh, KCR said
the government was committed to nip the menace of drug abuse at the initial
stage. The government already succeeded in curbing ID liquor (gudumba) and
online gambling, he said.
Taking pot shots at Congress for creating a hue
and cry over the Nerella incident, the Chief Minister said the opposition tried
to project the issue as an attack on Dalits. Police have acted against some
persons who were involved in the incident and few of them happen to be from Dalit
families. It was not intentional.
Thanking the High Court for dismissing the PIL
against the regularisation of contract workers in Energy department, the Chief
Minister said that the government was only absorbing the employees in the
government and their services are not regularized. He said the government would
pay Rs 1,000 more than what the court had recommended to be paid to them. This
would put Rs 25 crore burden on the state exchequer.
KCR said that all the departments were already
instructed to prepare the list of contract employees and study the possibility
of regularisation of their services. The government is planning to increase
their salaries on par with regular employees if the regularisation of their
service is not possible.
