AN ASYNCHRONOUS HISTORY SCRAPBOOK - ACKNOWLEDGMENTS: Vanam Jwala Narasimha Rao

AN ASYNCHRONOUS

HISTORY SCRAPBOOK

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Long time ago, around the year 1975, a year after I joined as Librarian in BHEL Higher Secondary School, I approached a senior journalist heading a national news agency to request for a job as a journalist. The person, who very recently passed away, though polite in responding, rejected outright my request, commenting that journalism and writing is not carpentry! Couple of months later also, I had a similar experience, when I mentioned about my desire to one of my relatives. He worked in various capacities as a Public Relations Person and was considered as a good penman. These two persons whose names I cannot reveal at this point were responsible for provoking me to attempt writing and to be recognized as a freelance journalist in due course.  At the outset I offer my sincere thanks to both of them.

My first attempt of writing was mailing letters to the editor to Indian Express. My first letter was in response to an article by Late Sri. G. Krishna a highly respected journalist working then for Indian Express, on Edward FitzGerald’s book “The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam”. When he appreciated my views and the way I presented I was very happy. In later days and after his retirement he worked as an honorary Editor of National Information Services (Which is publishing this book). At that time he used to correct and edit my articles and thus I learnt a lot from him. I offer my sincere thanks to him.

I offer my thanks to Deccan Chronicle, Indian Express, AP Times, and The Hans India, Mana MLA Garu dot com and other newspapers and magazines which carried my articles from time to time.

I thank Sri. VJM Diwakar for making corrections, Sri. J. Harinarayan for writing Foreword, my son Aditya K Roy for writing “why we need to read the book”, Sri. Maramraju Satyanarayana Rao for writing preface to the book and Sri. Bhandaru Srinivasa Rao and Turlapati Sambasiva Rao for introducing me.

My sincere thanks to my wife Vanam Vijayalaxmi for encouraging me to engage in writing.

I offer my sincere thanks to Sri. Boggarapu Sitaramaiah for helping me to print and publish this book and for extending financial support.

Thanks to all.
Vanam Jwala Narasimha Rao
